Jam Drop Cookies | Jam Thumbprint Cookies | Jam Filled Butter Cookies


  Jam Thumbprint Cookie or Jam drop cookie is a buttery, soft and delicious, melt in mouth shortbread cookie filled with sweet fruit jam in the center. This is one of the most classic Christmas cookies you can bake easily at home. It's insanely popular throughout the world and a fun treat for all ages.

   You can obviously use any kind of fruit jam you like!. Jam makes the cookie more irresistible, melting in the microwave makes it easier to fill in the center.


   Butter is the most important ingredient in any shortbread cookie dough, use softened room temperature butter. Since jam is added, the cookie might end up very sweet so be more careful with the amount of sugar used.

Jam Drop Cookies - Buttery, soft and delicious, melt in mouth shortbread cookies filled with sweet fruit jam in the centre.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup softened Butter
  • 1/3 cup powdered Sugar
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 - 3 tbsp Any fruit jam

Instructions
  • Cream butter and sugar in a wide bowl.
  • Gently whisk in the egg yellow and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add in the flour and mix until everything is just combined.
  • Roll even sized dough balls and place them on a lined baking tray.
  • Make a dent in the center of dough balls with the thumb finger or with the back of a spoon.
  • Melt the jam in the microwave for 1 minute and mix well.
  • Fill the jam with a small spoon.
  • In a preheated oven, bake at 180°C for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool completely and enjoy!

    Jam Drop Cookies - Step by step pictures

    Start by creaming softened butter and sugar in a wide bowl.



    Gently whisk in the egg yellow and vanilla extract.




    Gradually add in the flour and mix with a spatula.



    Mix until everything is just combined.


    Roll even sized dough balls and place them on a lined baking tray.


    Make a dent in the center of dough balls with the thumb finger or with the back of a spoon.



    Take the fruit jam in a microwave-safe bowl.


    Microwave for 1 minute to melt the jam and mix well.


    Fill the jam with a small spoon.


    In a preheated oven, bake at 180°C for 10 - 15 minutes.


    Allow the cookies to cool in the tray for sometime before transferring.
