Orange Cake | Soft and flavorful Orange Cake
A soft and tender cake that’s packed with citrus flavour from the fresh orange juice and zest.
This easy orange cake is moist, flavourful, fluffy and delicious. It has a melt-in-the-mouth texture that goes perfectly with a warm cup of coffee or tea.
It’s really important to properly beat your eggs for a light and fluffy cake. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
Ingredients for Orange Cake
- Eggs
- Powdered Sugar
- Melted Butter
- Orange Food Colour
- Orange zest
- Orange juice
- all-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
Line a cake tin with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180°C.
Take the eggs in a wide bowl and beat with an electric hand mixer until foamy.
Add in the powdered sugar.
Beat for about 3 - 4 minutes until the mixture triples in volume.
Add in the melted butter, orange food colour and orange zest.
Mix for a few seconds.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Gently whisk the ingredients.
Gradually add in the orange juice.
Whisk gently until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
Pour the batter onto the prepared baking pan. Tap the pan several times to remove large air bubbles.
Bake the cake at 180°C for 35 - 40 minutes.
Invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and serve!
