Chocolate Orange Cake | Soft, moist and fluffy Orange Chocolate Cake
With the classic combination of orange and chocolate and a soft and fluffy texture, this cake is one of the brilliant bakes.
This Orange Chocolate Cake is super moist, chocolatey, decadent and infused with real orange flavour. The orange flavour of the cake comes from the fresh orange juice and orange zest. The cake is frosted with a chocolate orange ganache that is flavoured with orange zest as well to help amplify the orange flavour even more.
You can decorate the cake with fresh orange slices or zest.
- all-purpose flour
- Cocoa powder
- Salt
- Baking Powder
- Baking soda
- Egg
- White sugar
- melted Butter
- Orange juice
- Hot milk
- Dark Chocolate
- Hot Cream
- Orange zest
Line a cake tin with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180°C. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Mix well and set aside.
Take the egg and sugar in a wide bowl and beat well until foamy.
Add in the melted butter and orange juice. Mix well for a few seconds.
Gradually add the dry ingredients and hot milk.
Whisk gently until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
Pour the batter onto the prepared baking pan. Tap the pan several times to remove large air bubbles.
Bake the cake at 180°C for 35 - 40 minutes.
Invert the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
For orange chocolate ganache mix together the chopped dark chocolate, orange zest and hot cream for a few seconds.
Spread the ganache on top of the cake.
Decorate with orange slices.
Slice and serve!
