These chocolate sugar cookies are easy to make, incredibly tempting, and perfect for CHRISTMAS!
They have a perfect balance of chocolate and buttery goodness.
Unlike many sugar cookies, the cookie dough doesn't need to chilled. They make a really pretty addition to your cookie box. They are not only tasty, but fun to bake.
I used christmas cookie cutters to cut this chocolate dough into shapes and decorated them with Royal Icing.
Ingredients for Chocolate Sugar Cookies
- all-purpose flour
- Corn Starch
- Cocoa powder
- Salt
- Baking soda
- Butter
- Powdered Sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Egg
- Royal Icing
Chocolate Sugar Cookies - Step-by-step pictures
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Sift together the all-purpose flour, corn starch, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda.
Mix well and set aside.
Take butter in a wide bowl and beat with the electric hand mixer.
Add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat together until completely smooth and creamy.
Add in the egg and beat until combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
Mix gently until combined. Do not overmix.
Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut with Christmas cookie cutters.
Place the cut-out shapes onto a baking sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
Let them cool completely.
Prepare the royal icing to decorate the cookies. Decorate as desired.
